Service Information
Prof Manoj Sivan, a world-leading clinician and researcher in this field, offers specialist consultation and investigation based on the latest emerging evidence which is available only at this clinic in the country.
The initial consultation includes holistic assessment of all symptoms, specialist blood tests, in-clinic tests for autonomic function, non-drug treatments, drug treatments and injection treatments when needed. The clinic also offers advice on emerging latest research in the area. Diagnostic ultrasound and guided-injections may be carried out if indicated.

MUSCULOSKELETAL ULTRASOUND

Service Information
Prof Manoj Sivan, holds a PgCert in MSK ultrasound and offers specialist diagnosis based on the initial consultation (see section on initial consultation) and findings of ultrasound imaging.
The ultrasound assessment includes joints, soft tissue, tendon, neovascularity (on doppler), dynamic testing during movement and using ultrasound to guide intervention.
The patient gets a tailored ultrasound scan of the relevant MSK area relevant to the painful condition. The specific anatomical areas include shoulder joint, elbow joint, writs and hand, hip joint, knee joint, ankle and foot. Assessment could include imaging of muscle, nerve and soft tissue lesions.
MUSCOSKELETAL INTERVENTIONS

Shoulder – joint steroid injection, subacromial bursa injection for impingement, hydrodistension for frozen shoulder, suprascapular nerve block for painful shoulder.
Elbow – joint steroid injection, tennis elbow injection/ dry needling, golfer’s elbow injection/ dry needling.

About Professor Manoj Sivan
Professor Manoj Sivan MD FRCP Ed is a consultant in physical and rehabilitation medicine and a world leader in the assessment and management of chronic musculoskeletal problems. His expertise includes diagnostic and interventional musculoskeletal ultrasound, pain-relieving injections, assessment of autonomic dysfunction (such as PoTS), and management of chronic widespread pain (fibromyalgia), chronic fatigue (ME/CFS), and post-infection syndromes (such as long COVID).
He has served as president of the British Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (BSPRM) and consultant and advisor to the World Health Organisation (WHO) during the pandemic. He has published over 250 articles, secured research grants worth >£10 million, and is in the top 0.5% of scientists in his field globally. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the SAGE journal Advances in Rehabilitation Science and Practice. He is the recipient of the BMJ Clinical Leadership Team award, ISPRM Sidney Licht award, RACP George Burniston Medal, European Academy of RM award and Philips Nicols prize.
